- Hello,
- I am getting a new 28.8 fax/modem - no voicemail needed. I will be
- sharing one line (no distinctive ring for diff. numbers) with an answering
- machine that is set up to answer the phone after 4 rings. I understand
- that there are modems that can distinguish between incoming fax and voice
- calls. Do they answer the phone and wait for the fax tones? I'm really
- lost on this one. Could someone please explain how these modems work?
- Ideally I would want the modem to distinguish the type of call in the
- first 3 rings - if a fax, take the fax, if a voice call, allow the phone
- to get the 4th ring and then answer the phone. Direct email is preferred.
- Also, I need recommendations for such modems/software for the Mac.
-
- Thanks for your help in advance!
